Founded in 1977, Tony Beddison AO is chairman of the Beddison Group
of companies comprising of the equally sized HOBAN Recruitment and Clicks IT Recruitment companies.
At any one time many of its 2,500 contractors that are on the group’s payroll, are working for government departments and some of Australia’s best-known companies in addition to the group’s 120 full time staff.
Beddison is on the board of the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, the Australian War Memorial ANZAC Foundation and the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, being a keen horseman.
Born in Fitzroy in 1948, Tony Beddison was educated at Caulfield Grammar before turning to law at University. His first job was at BP before running a supermarket before he was conscripted into the
army in 1969 where he trained at Puckapunyal and the officer training unit at Scheyville, eventually being posted to London.
He worked in real estate and fashion in Madrid and London before returning to Australia in 1973 where he was hired by Drake International as a corporate assistant to the President.
In 1976 he established Drake Executive before leaving to found what has become the Beddison Group.
In 1998 Beddison joined the Moonee Valley Racing Committee. In 1999 he was asked to be chairman
of the Australia Day Committee and later joined the committee for the Centenary of the Federation.
Beddison became the chair of the Royal Children’s Hospital in 2004 followed by, in 2005, Chairman of the 2007 FINA World Swimming Championships. In 2002 Tony Beddison was made an Officer of the Order of Australia and in 2003 was awarded the Centenary Medal.
