HOBAN Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled EL1 Level Independent Advisor to support the Independent Advisory Council (IAC). This specialist role involves working closely with the IAC Principal Member, Senior Independent Advisor, reference groups, and Secretariat to provide expert advice that shapes critical strategies.
This role can be located in either Sydney NSW or Canberra ACT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic advice on Disability sector - related challenges impacting people with disabilities.
- Collaborate with reference group members, especially individuals with intellectual disabilities and young people, to foster engagement and capacity-building initiatives.
- Conduct research, facilitate discussions, and draft impactful discussion papers, reports, and advice.
- Represent the IAC in high-level stakeholder meetings, explaining expectations and influencing outcomes.
- Develop plain English documentation tailored for government organisations.
- Support IAC and reference group priorities in line with annual work plans.

About You:
We are seeking a candidate with:
- Strong understanding of the disability sector and the lived experiences of people with disabilities.
- Proven expertise in providing strategic and technical advice within a government or advisory setting.
- Exceptional research, writing, and communication skills, including plain English documentation.
- Experience managing high-level relationships and advisory projects.
- Ability to facilitate discussions and mentor diverse groups effectively.
- A strategic mindset and dedication to achieving quality outcomes for people with disabilities.
