Protective Security Officers (PSOs) come from all walks of life. They play a vital role, supporting the safety and security of our community in South Australia as an essential team in South Australian Police.
No experience is necessary as full, paid training is provided. You will enjoy learning life-long transferrable skills in leadership and critical thinking as well as adaptability and problem-solving.
Following successful completion of nine weeks paid professional training at the Police Academy, successful graduates are offered an initial 12-month contract and the opportunity to demonstrate their skills with this high- profile government agency. What does the role involve?
- Operating security equipment including CCTV monitoring in government buildings
- Completing compliance checks; Monitoring and reporting people movements
- Assisting in perimeter and floor by floor monitoring and foot patrols
- Staffing security desks and control access in quarantine accommodation
- Keeping records in journals, logbooks and other databases as required by SA Police.
About you:
- Keen to try a new opportunity with a high profile government agency
- Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident aged over 18 years
- Patient, observant and confident problem solver
- Hold a current Class C Australian driver’s licence
- General fitness and able to complete an obstacle course
- Have, or be willing to obtain, a first-aid certificate and Working With Children Check, before graduating.
- Willing to have the COVID-19 vaccine
- Be clean-shaven to safely wear a face mask while working
