APS 4 Finance Officer

HOBAN Recruitment is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to support the financial operations of a prominent federal government organisation located in Canberra. This role plays a vital part in ensuring accurate and timely financial processing, reporting, and client support services.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders, contribute to financial governance practices, and provide support across accounts processing, reconciliations, and credit card acquittals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly financial reconciliations
- Support payment runs and process accounts payable/receivable
- Manage invoice processing mailboxes and ensure timely action
- Assist with credit card acquittals and month-end accruals/prepayments
- Handle debt collection and reporting
- Support internal/external queries regarding accounts and overdue payments
- Apply financial policies and procedures consistently
- Use accounting systems and support financial governance requirements

About You:
You're an organised and proactive professional with a passion for finance and public service. You bring a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
We're looking for candidates with:
- Knowledge of and ability to apply financial legislation, policies, and procedures
- Familiarity with financial/accounting systems
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to respond to internal/external stakeholder queries professionally
- Experience in financial operations (desirable)
- Understanding of GST, FBT and the Commonwealth Financial Frameworks (desirable)
