APS4 Planning & Support Officer

We are seeking an organised, empathetic, and resilient individual to join a federal government agency as an APS4 Planner. In this role, you will work directly with NDIS participants, their families, and carers to assist with the planning process and ensure participants receive the right supports tailored to their needs.
This is a dynamic role that combines office-based work with face-to-face engagement in the community, including home visits.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with NDIS participants via phone, email, and face-to-face to guide them through the planning process
Attend external locations, including participants' homes and community venues
Manage multiple participant records and accurately input information into NDIA systems
Conduct high volumes of phone and computer-based work
Handle sensitive and sometimes complex conversations with professionalism and empathy
Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a supportive team
Ensure all administrative requirements and documentation are completed accurately and in a timely manner
Work Environment
Open office environment with general workplace noise
Hot desk arrangement with occasional work from home
Significant time working at a desk or counter, operating computers and telephones
Use of Microsoft Office and NDIA business applications (CRM systems)
External visits may require mobility over uneven terrain, stairs, or unsealed roads, in all weather conditions
Use of a vehicle to travel to participant locations (some may not be accessible by public transport)
Assistance animals may be present in the workplace
Essential Requirements
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal)
Ability to manage difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism
Competent IT and data entry skills, with strong attention to detail
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Capacity to manage multiple participant records and administrative tasks simultaneously
Willingness and ability to work from the office during the training period
Desirable Criteria
Background in the disability sector or related fields
Experience in customer service or client-facing roles
