EL1 Scrum Master

Rate: $602.55 per day (excluding super)

We are seeking an experienced EL1 Scrum Master to lead agile delivery across complex and high-impact projects within a large federal government agency.
Working under broad direction, you will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage project risks and dependencies, and guide delivery outcomes across projects involving significant detail and strategic importance. This role requires excellent leadership, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to coach teams to higher levels of agile maturity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project scope, timelines, and forward planning.
- Deliver using both Agile (Scrum) and traditional waterfall approaches.
- Use project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) to map deliverables, track progress, and manage dependencies.
- Proactively manage risks, issues, actions, and RAID logs.
- Assist senior leaders in resource planning and allocation across projects.
- Facilitate sprints, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Coach and mentor teams in Agile practices and hybrid delivery approaches.
- Ensure governance and reporting align with agency frameworks.
- Build strong relationships and negotiate with key stakeholders to support delivery outcomes.
About You
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Delivery Lead.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience with Agile principles.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in reporting, progress tracking, and risk management.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
- Ability to identify and remove blockers to keep projects on track.
- Competence in Agile delivery tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
Desirable:
- Certified Scrum Master.
- Experience in hybrid delivery models (Agile + Waterfall).
- Knowledge of program/portfolio-level reporting.
- Experience in change management or continuous improvement.
- Exposure to other Agile frameworks (SAFe, Kanban, etc.).
