APS 6 Level Specialist Training Officer

This position is crucial in building the security capabilities of Australia's diplomatic staff through engaging, culturally-aware, and innovative training programs.

Location is in BARTON ACT.

About the Role:

As a Specialist Training Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in safeguarding Australia's overseas missions and domestic operations through comprehensive training initiatives. You will:

• Deliver presentations and facilitate security training to government staff and external agencies
• Design innovative, inclusive, and culturally appropriate learning solutions
• Develop and maintain training materials across face-to-face, virtual, eLearning and blended formats
• Continuously evaluate and refine training curricula in alignment with strategic objectives
• Identify training gaps and implement improvement strategies
• Prepare high-level briefs, training strategies and executive reports
• Collaborate with stakeholders across government entities
• Provide administrative support including course scheduling, participant management and reporting
• Support the development of the Diplomatic Security Officer Development Program
• Contribute to policy guidance and briefing material on security capability

About You:

We're looking for a training and security professional who is passionate about building capability and improving outcomes. The ideal candidate will have:

• Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in training and assessment
• Proven ability to develop and deliver engaging training across multiple modalities
• Strong understanding of protective security practices (desirable)
• Knowledge of overseas security environments (desirable)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a high-pressure environment
• Strong administrative and organisational capabilities
• A current NV1 Security Clearance (essential prior to commencement)
