About the Role:
As a Senior Media Officer, you will:
- Lead the development of media strategies and identify opportunities to promote the Scheme and the agency's work.
- Craft compelling media content including releases, pitches, talking points, and multimedia packages.
- Respond to media enquiries and manage a rotating after-hours media roster.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and media partners to support nationally consistent messaging.
- Manage complex communications challenges with tact, speed, and precision.
- Monitor and assess media risks, providing expert advice on reputational matters.
- Use data and performance metrics to evaluate media campaign outcomes and suggest improvements.
- Represent the organisation with professionalism when engaging with external stakeholders, including the Minister's Office.

About You:
To excel in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience in media, journalism, public affairs or strategic communications.
- Strong writing and editing skills for a variety of platforms and audiences.
- Ability to pitch, package, and deliver compelling media stories.
- Excellent time management and ability to triage tasks effectively.
- Confidence liaising with journalists and managing complex enquiries.
- Critical thinking skills and a sharp eye for reputational risk.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work independently under limited direction.
- Understanding of media trends, political environments, and the machinery of government (desirable).
- Established media contacts and/or experience in government communications (highly regarded).
