HOBAN Recruitment is recruiting for multiple EL1 Assistant Director - Economics and Insights roles on behalf of our client, a Federal Government Agency, located in DEAKIN ACT.
About the Role
As an Assistant Director - Economics and Insights, you will lead small teams to deliver economic research and analysis that informs critical policy decisions. Working within the Economics and Insights team, your work will shape market design, address complex challenges, and improve the functioning of disability support markets.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct economic research and analysis to support evidence-based decision making
- Apply statistical and economic modelling using large data-sets
- Lead pilot studies to address information gaps and test innovative solutions
- Collaborate across teams, academics, and experts to build shared understanding
- Contribute to sustainable pricing policies and market reforms impacting billions in funding

About You
We are seeking motivated and analytical professionals with a passion for applying economics to real-world challenges. To succeed in this role, you will have:
Essential skills:
- Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex economic issues
- Strong structured thinking and ability to build analytical frameworks
- Technical capability in data handling and quantitative analysis
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work collaboratively
Desirable skills:
- Postgraduate degree in economics, econometrics, or a related field
- Experience in the care economy or human services markets
- Proficiency with statistical software (R, Python, Stata, SAS)
