Trade Compliance Analyst

Our client, a global leader in heavy equipment and manufacturing, is seeking a highly skilled Trade Compliance Analyst to join their Tullamarine-based team on a long-term parental leave placement. This role is ideal for a seasoned trade compliance professional who thrives in a dynamic, cross-border environment and is confident navigating complex regulatory frameworks.
Reporting to a global manager based in China, you will provide high-level technical support and strategic input to ensure full compliance with international trade regulations and corporate policies. You will also play a key role in minimising risk, identifying optimisation opportunities, and supporting critical business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support customs and export control processes, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Manage relationships with customs brokers and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with compliance requirements.
Review and analyse trade-related KPIs and metrics to support continuous improvement.
Provide expert advice on complex trade matters to local business units and global teams.
Conduct technical analysis of evolving trade regulations and assess business impacts.
Contribute as a subject matter expert to internal and business-led trade compliance projects.
Support audit readiness and remediation plans for both internal and external assessments.
Assist with the implementation of global trade programs and act as a key liaison between the business and global compliance teams.
About You:
Tertiary qualification or relevant certification in international trade, logistics, or a related field.
Extensive experience in customs compliance and export controls, including management of duty suspension regimes.
Strong leadership capability and the ability to influence across functional teams.
Highly analytical, with experience in compliance reporting, data analysis, and risk assessment.
Proficient in working with global teams and navigating cross-cultural communication.
Advanced PC skills and familiarity with compliance systems and reporting tools.
Self-motivated, solutions-focused, and comfortable working independently.
