HOBAN Recruitment is seeking motivated Senior Policy Officers (AO6 Equivalent) to support strategic climate initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to work on meaningful projects that contribute to climate change policies and programs supporting Queensland's economy, communities, and environment.
Role Details
- Role Type: Temporary, casual assignment
- Positions: 2 x AO6 equivalent roles (one in Adaptation Policy, one in Partnerships and Programs)
- Pay Rate: AO6 equivalent $76 + p/h + superannuation
- Start: Mid-to-late July 2025
- Location: Brisbane CBD
- Closing Date: Sunday 15th June 2025
About the Role
As a Senior Policy Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of climate action initiatives. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you'll contribute to climate risk management, policy development, and the implementation of impactful climate programs across government and industry.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Policy Development: Research, design, and evaluate innovative climate policies and programs.
- Strategic Advice: Prepare high-level policy briefings and technical advice for senior leaders.
- Project Management: Manage and prioritise workloads using agile methodologies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build productive relationships across departments and sectors.
- Communication Products: Draft briefing notes, action plans, reports, and stakeholder communications.
- Cross-Agency Coordination: Assist in the development of whole-of-government climate policy positions.
- Contract Management: Oversee delivery of outsourced project components as needed.
- Cultural Engagement: Contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people through inclusive policy practices.
- Other duties as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Policy Expertise: Experience in policy or program development within government, ideally at AO6 level.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to conduct detailed research and provide evidence-based recommendations.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication, with confidence preparing complex documents.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage competing deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Collaboration: Ability to work well both independently and as part of a high-performing, multidisciplinary team.
- Leadership: Initiative, adaptability, and a personal commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
Eligibility Requirements
- Formal qualifications in policy, governance, economics, law, sustainability, or environmental management is required.
- Full Australian working rights.
- Ability to pass and maintain a National Police Check and other pre-employment checks.
