About the Role
A state government agency is seeking a skilled and motivated AO5 equivalent Human Resource Advisor to deliver generalist HR services and strategic support to teams operating across major infrastructure programs in the South Coast Region. This is an opportunity to work closely with regional leadership to support workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and organisational development initiatives.
The HR Advisor will work as part of a small team responsible for delivering high-quality, business-focused human resource advice. The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing guidance across a wide range of matters including recruitment, employee relations, capability development, and change management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely, solution-focused advice to stakeholders on performance management, discipline processes, and employee relations matters
- Support end-to-end recruitment processes including advertising, panel participation, appointment approvals, and onboarding activities
- Deliver presentations and facilitate training or information sessions on HR initiatives and legislative changes
- Undertake research and analysis of HR legislation, directives, and policies to inform advice and decision-making
- Contribute to the agency's workforce planning and culture development initiatives through the delivery of practical, business-aligned HR strategies
- Provide project support and advisory services on complex human resource and change management issues
- Respond to queries related to payroll, timesheets, induction, exit procedures, and employment conditions
Key Skills & Attributes
- Solid understanding of Queensland public sector HR frameworks, legislation, and policies
- Experience in advising on recruitment, performance management, and workplace relations
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce
- Proactive problem-solving approach and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Competent in analysing HR trends and reporting on key workforce metrics
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in a government or infrastructure delivery environment
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and digital recruitment platforms
Mandatory Requirements
- Must have full working rights in Australia
- National Police Check clearance prior to commencement
