From Melbourne Beginnings to a National Recruitment Leader
Founded in 1965 by Lynn HOBAN, our business began with a vision to provide reliable and people-focused recruitment services in Melbourne. What started as a local agency has now grown into one of Australia’s most respected recruitment organisations, with 14 offices nationwide. Today, HOBAN is proudly supported by sister organisations RED Appointments and Staff Solutions Bilingual (SSB), enabling us to deliver specialist recruitment services across industries and communities.
A Milestone Worth Celebrating
To mark this incredible achievement, we welcomed the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Councillor Nick Reece, to our Collins Street Head Office. The Lord Mayor helped us celebrate with the cutting of the giant “Hobie” cake, a moment shared live with our teams across Australia. Our people joined the celebrations in their own way, from office gatherings to client visits and time spent out in the field, demonstrating the strength and spirit of our national team.
In his remarks, the Lord Mayor acknowledged HOBAN Recruitment’s long-standing contribution to Melbourne’s business community and our impact across Australia’s workforce over six decades.

In her speech, CEO Alison Watts reflected on HOBAN’s journey and achievements:

From investing in our Distribution Development Centres (DDCs), which provide hands-on training in logistics and warehousing, to adopting new recruitment technologies and best-practice processes, we continue to evolve to meet the needs of a changing workforce.
As Alison noted, while the world of work today looks very different from 1965, our commitment to people-first recruitment remains constant.
