APS 6 Network Engineer

About the Role
An opportunity is available for a skilled APS6 Network Engineer to support the design, deployment, and management of secure, enterprise-level ICT network solutions within a federal government agency. This is a technically focused role with leadership responsibilities, requiring the ability to work under limited direction and manage complex network infrastructure and operational tasks.
The successful candidate will contribute to strategic planning, lead small technical teams, support business improvement initiatives, and provide high-level advice related to network systems and security.
This role is a 18th month assignment, could be extended subject to business needs. Pay rate is $60.26/hr.

Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, build, and support of WAN/LAN infrastructure using industry-certified methods.
- Implement and manage network security protocols across physical, wireless, and cloud environments.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues using accredited diagnostic tools and methods.
- Support change management activities, including patching, testing, and documentation.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in networking technologies and practices.
- Provide input to planning and project management activities and ensure quality technical outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues and support service delivery.
About You
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Has significant experience in enterprise network management and troubleshooting.
- Holds relevant industry certifications (e.g., Cisco, CompTIA, or equivalent).
- Can work independently with sound judgement, discretion, and initiative.
- Has experience leading technical teams or mentoring staff.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Is familiar with government ICT environments and associated policies and standards.
