We are currently in search of a native level English speaker with Japanese language skill equivalent to N1 JLPT to join a Japanese Government Related Organization based in Sydney. This position offers an excellent career path for related Government work in the future.
This role presents a unique chance to conducting research on issues pertaining to Local Governments in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
The primary responsibilities for this role include:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, and Assistant Director, the following tasks are to be performed:
① Job Description
- Investigation into the financial systems and operations of Australia and New Zealand.
- Planning and execution of office-hosted events and forums (related to policy issues shared by local governments in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand).
- Coordination with local governments, relevant organizations, and various entities in Australia and New Zealand (such as sister city relationships, multicultural integration initiatives, and hosting research teams from Japan).
- Interpretation and translation tasks (English to Japanese, Japanese to English).
- Other duties necessary for office operations.
② Working Hours
38 hours per week
- Monday to Thursday: 9:30 AM - 6:15 PM
- Friday: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM
③ Required Skills
- Native Level English language ability
- Japanese fluency equivalent to Level 1(N1) of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT)
- Some research background is preferred but not mandatory
- JET program experience is highly regarded
- English writing skill
interest in political issues, analysis and research,
- Ability to conduct thorough investigations on administrative matters, various research (including web research), interviews, and field surveys.
- Ability to coordinate and negotiate with administrative agencies.
- Proficiency in using computers (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work as part of a team, maintaining smooth communication with other staff members while fulfilling duties.
④ Career Background
- Experience working in government agencies, public services, or research institutions is valued.
- If you have an experience of writing papers or essays in Japanese. Please submit any published works at the time of application.
- University degree holder.
- Must be able to undertake business trips involving overnight stays.
